Privacy Policy
The short version
Head to Head Sports Picks ("H2H", "the app") is a game where two friends pick football games against the point spread and compare results. It involves no money: nothing is bought, sold, bet, wagered or paid out, and there are no prizes. We collect only what the game needs to work, we do not sell or rent your information to anyone, and we show no advertising.
What we collect
- Your account. Your e-mail address, and the first and last name you enter when you create an account. Your password is handled by our sign-in provider, Auth0 (Okta, Inc.), and is never stored on our servers.
- Your profile. The display name and colour you choose in Settings. Other players in your matches see these.
- Your game play. Your matches, the picks you make and the point spread at the moment you made them, the invitations you send and accept, and the messages, emoji, GIFs and stickers you send in a match's chat. Everything in a match is visible to the other player in that match.
- Your devices. A push-notification token for each phone or browser where you sign in, so the server can tell you when it is your turn or when your opponent writes to you, plus your notification settings. Tokens are provided by Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging.
- Server logs. Like nearly every internet service, our servers keep standard technical logs of requests (for example the network address a request came from, the time, and which function was called) for troubleshooting and security.
We do not collect your location, contacts, photos (other than images you deliberately send in a chat), calendar, or anything from other apps. We do not use analytics or advertising trackers.
How we use it
- To run the game: keep score, show your matches, deliver your opponent's picks and messages to you.
- To notify you: "your turn" alerts, chat alerts, and reminders you can switch off in Settings.
- To keep the service working and secure.
That is all. We do not build profiles, sell data, or use your information for advertising.
Who else sees it
- Your opponent. The other player in a match sees your display name, colour, picks and chat.
- Us, when something is reported. If a player reports a chat message, we see that message, who sent it and who reported it, so we can act on the report.
- Service providers that process data on our behalf, only to provide their function: Auth0 (sign-in and passwords), Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (delivering push notifications), and our web hosting provider (where the server and database run). Game schedules, scores and point spreads come from a licensed sports-data feed and contain nothing about you.
We do not share personal information with anyone else, except if the law requires it.
The chat: what's not allowed
Keep it between friends. No threats, harassment, hate, sexual content, or anyone's private information in a match's chat. Long-press a message in the app to report it - we read every report and act on it - or to block its sender: a blocked player's chat is hidden from you and they can't invite you to new matches, while your current matches carry on. You can unblock them in Settings → Blocked players. Accounts that keep breaking these rules can be closed.
How long we keep it
Your account and game history are kept while your account exists, so your seasons and records are there when you come back. Images sent in chat are deleted from our servers after two years. Server logs are kept for a limited time for troubleshooting and then discarded.
Deleting your account
You can ask us to delete your account at any time, from inside the app (Settings → Account → Delete my account) or at headtoheadsportspicks.com/account/delete/. That page explains exactly what is removed and what happens to the matches you played with other people.
Children
H2H is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Credits
Some of H2H's sounds were shared by their authors under Creative Commons licences. They are credited at headtoheadsportspicks.com/credits/.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new "last updated" date.
